From Pastor Kent

As Christians the Lord has delegated His authority to us to use against the powers of darkness. Our battle is not with people but with the devil and his cohorts, and make no mistake about it is total spiritual authority over all the ability of the enemy (Luke 10:19). The purpose of Jesus giving us this authority is so we can pull down the strongholds of the enemy no matter where we find them, whether in our own lives, our loved ones lives, in our communities, or in our world.

There is such a great needs in each of our own sphere’s of influence and in our world today for us to as never before to walk in this authority and put the enemy to flight, after all Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil (I Jn 3:8) and to give us total victory in every area of our lives. In the book of Ephesians (6:10) the Bible tells us to be “strong in the Lord and in the power of His might,” which literally can be translated ”to be able in the Lord and in the authority of His dominion.” God has made us able in Christ and He has procurred total dominion for us through the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus stripped the devil of the authority he gained through Adam’s transgression and made an open show of him (Col 2:14). The Church is now to start making Jesus’ enemies His footstool.

We have all been encouraged to be “God Chasers” in years past, now I am encouraging us also to be “devil chasers.” By that I mean that we need to take a posture in the spirit that is one of offence when it comes to the enemy and not always just defense. We need to be like the children of Israel and go in and possess the land. Sometimes this envolves us dispossessing the enemies that stand in our way. God has promised us healing and health but we need to drive out the sickness (which can be a demon, not always though) to possess the promise. The devil can bring his oppression in many forms…mental torment, anxiety, fear, poverty, lack, divorce and division in marriages and families, heaviness, overt grief and sorrow… and he needs to be rebuked and dispossessed so you can possess the promise of God. Jesus defeated the devil and took the keys from him but we must go in and enforce the rule of our authority. Jesus said, “these signs shall follow them that believe, they shall cast out devils” (much of the church doesn’t even believe in devils much less casting them out!), (Mark 16:17). The Bible says, “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the the Holy Ghost and power who went about doing good and healing ALL who were oppressed of the devil for God was with Him,” (Acts 10:38). We need to claim this in our lives and be like Jesus, after all He is in us to will and to do of His good pleasure (Phil 2:13).

Let us become skillful in warfare. I think of David’s mighty men who were so skillful in war, they could fight with their left hands and with their right hands. They were strong and they were experts in what they could do. They are types for us. The Lord is looking for the church to rise up, put on the whole armour of God, and to become experts (through Jesus) at demolishing strongholds. The gates of hell will not prevail against the Church and the Church being the seed of Abraham possesses the gate of their enemies (Gen 22:17). Let us go forth in victory Church, the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty (miraculously capable) through God to (for the express purpose) of pulling down (demolishing) strongholds (II Cor 10:4); though we walk in the flesh we do not war according to the flesh (II Cor 10:3). Your battle is in the spirit and your victory is in the spirit. Get your mind in line with the Word and use your authority in Christ and you will enjoy the benefits.

The Bible says of the Bride of Christ that she shall be brought to the King in a ”raiment of needlework” wrought in gold, (Psalm 45). This speaks of the intricacy and the fine-point work of God that He wants to do in His Church in these last days. In the book of Ephesians, speaking of the His Bride, it says that the Lord will “wash her” with the “water of His Word” (which is the anointed Word of God poured out by the Holy Spirit) and present her to Himself a glorious church without spot or wrinkle, or any such thing, (Ephesians 5). The picture is of a pure white bride adorned, prepared and fully ready for her wedding day! Wow, how awesome is this Brothers and Sisters? The gold in scripture speaks of deity, so it is God who we are wrought in. His person and work produces this and is interwoven throughout.

If the Church is going to be ready for her King in this way then she must get serious about submitting to Him now in the process. God is reaching out and calling by His Spirit; He is pouring out His Word in this hour to effectually work this in us but it will only come to those who are submitted to Him in love and obedience. It is not those who say, “Lord, Lord,” but those who do the things which He says, (Luke 6:46). To submit to God means that we “come under” Him, or willing place ourselves in “subjection” to Him. Like a bride’s relationship with her husband it is a willing subjection not a coercion or a forced manipulation but rather a willing yieldedness. Indeed, it is an excited anticipation and preparation for their wedding day for which she has prepared in one way or another possibly her whole life! It is not subjection to a church board, denomination or system, or another man (pastor, leader, whoever) or specific isolated group but it is a direct and individual subjection of each of us who claim to be a Christian to Christ Himself. Are you that submitted to Him?

Certainly it takes the work of the Holy Spirit to fully accomplish this in our lives but submitting to God by the power of the Holy Spirit means at least these five things if we are truly submitted, and it means living 24/7 (all the time) in all of them not just one or the other or just when it is convenient for us:

1) It means each of us willingly coming under “WHO” He is as He has revealed Himself in the Person of Jesus Christ and His Holy Word.

Think about this, Who is God? Who does the Bible reveal Him to be? Who is the Father? The Son? The Holy Spirit? He is the One true God…the Triune God…who is our Creator and Redeemer, Savior, Lord, Potter and molder and maker! He is the One with whom we have to do (Hebrew 4:13). He is who He reveals Himself to be in His Word…He is a consuming fire…the Eternal Sovereign Ruler of this universe. He is our Father, Elder Brother, and Comforter who is in us and called along side to help us. He is the Head of the Church, He is the Christ, the anointed of God, the Messiah who has come. He is so much more but when we submit ourselves let us be sure that we are cleanly and completely submitting (coming under) this true God of the Bible in ALL He is and Who He is to us.

He is not the god of the Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, or others. He not the same God as all these other religions. Sometimes, erroneously people lump all these together supposing that there are many paths to the One God, but there is only One Way, and that is Jesus, “He that hath not the Son hath not the Father,” (I Jn 3).

Are you committed and submitted willingly to this One True God? Selah.

2) It means each of us willingly coming under “His Word.” Psalm 138:2 says that He exalts His Word above His Name.

How many Christians really take the full council of God (His Word) seriously? I mean to the point that they are students of it to get washed and changed by it? It is easy to take the parts we want to take and those parts that bless us or promise us something but what about the harder parts of, for example, taking up our cross daily and following Jesus; dying to self; overcoming and loving our enemies, and praying for people who despitefully use us, doing good and giving; not lusting with your eyes and heart toward someone else’s spouse; not allowing anger and strife to be a part of your life; giving up pride and clothing yourself in humility; not bickering and quarreling but rather being kind and loving which is the bond of perfectness. What of the part about your marriage being a reflection of Christ and the Church…love, sacrifice, giving, submission to one another?

Are you professing Christ and possessing Him as a reality in your life or is it a hollow profession only? Are you committed and submitted willingly to His Word?

3) It means each of us willingly coming under “His Ways.” Moses knew God’s ways, Israel knew only His acts. There is a difference. One speaks of relationship (Moses was the friend of God) and the other of observation (Israel did not want to deal with God directly at Sinai).

God has a lot of ways that we need to know as we are getting to know Him! One of those is that we are to take His yoke upon us and “learn” of Him, (Matthew 11:29,30). The Word “learn” here means to study and intellectually gather and process information through examination, and observation. It speaks of a whole process. God has a process of us learning about Him…first the blade, then the ear, then the full ear and the fruit. It is “line upon line, here a little there a little” it is growth, changing, milk then meat, having the foundation built, then the superstructure afterward not the other way around. How many though just rush out or warm a church pew and never submit to the growth process? How many times are we rushing about but never taking the time to just sit at Jesus feet like Mary did? Are you a Mary or a Martha? Mary chose the good part that will never be taken away from her. Isn’t it in those times the you spend alone with the Lord that mean the most to you and you get the most out of?

His ways also involve going through the fire of affliction. Nobody likes trials but the Bible teaches that the Believer will have trials, tribulations, persecutions, and things to endure, and God uses these things to prove us, test us, and build endurance in us to fortify us and all the while He is providing for us and supplying our needs in the midst of it, (Deut 8:1-6). It is the refining furnace of affliction, but the Lord is faithful to deliver us out of our troubles, (Psalm 34:19).

Are you committed and submitted willingly to all of God’s Ways?

4) It means each of us willingly comes under “His Will.” The single most important thing you can learn and should be concerned with and sensitive to as a Believer is that you are walking in God’s will. That you are proving His Will in your life!

God’s will for you is to come to Christ and be born again, (Jn 3:1-7). God’s will is for you to receive the baptism in the Holy Spirit, (Acts 1:8). His next assignment is for you to learn of and do His will and live your life from that point on sensitive to the Fathers’ perfect will for you. Paul said, to yield your body as a living sacrifice and to renew your mind in the Word so you could be transformed and do God’s perfect will. Not just His so-called permissive will. Jesus said, ”Not everyone that says, “Lord, Lord” will enter in but those who do the will of my Father which is in heaven,” (Matthew 7:21-23). James said for us to live our lives sensitive to Gods’ will for our lives and not to take it upon ourselves to lead our own lives but to let Him lead, (James 4:13-17).

5) It means each of us willingly comes under “His Work” in our lives.

Paul said, “He that has begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ,” (Phil 1:6). He also said, “He is at work in you both to will and to do of His good pleasure, (Phil 2:13). God is working in you! Can you feel it? Can you discern it? Are you aware of it daily? The Spirit of God is jealous over you with a Holy jealousy and He desires you to become fully a habitation of in the Spirit (Ephesians 2:19-22), and where the Father and Son come and make their abode in you, (Jn 14:23).

The Work of God in your life is real. If your a Christian He has made you a new creation; He has placed His power in you and He wants to do exceedingly abundantly above all you can ask or think; His Spirit bears witness with your spirit that you are a child of God; He longs to lead you by His Spirit daily, (Rom 8:14); His Spirit reveals to you the deep things of God, (I Cor 2:9-14); His anointing in you abides in you and teaches you all things and He speaks what He hears and shows you things to come, (I Jn 2:27; Jn 16:13).

Are you committed and submitted to His Work, the real work of the Holy Spirit in your life?

When is the last time you felt the move of God stirring in your heart? When is the last time you sensed His Holy Spirit anointing and His abiding presence on you and stirring in you, even rising in you? When is the last time you heard His voice speaking to you? He is closer than your breath and He is alive a well and He wants a Shepherd’s relationship with you every day. He is the good shepherd; the great shepherd; the Chief Shepherd of the sheep. He wants you and I to know Him better than the we know anyone else on the face of the earth! He really does. But that takes time and commitment and submission to Him. He has called you to real discipleship, communion, devotion, and to  the fullness of Himself so you can know the joy His presence brings and the fullness of fruit His life in you brings.

Please pray for one another and all the saints in every place, the body of Christ everywhere. Remember too that God is the God of all grace and that He is able to make all grace abound to you in everything and in every place. He has called you to the abundance of His peace, love, faith, and fulness of joy. The Kingdom of God is not meat or drink but righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. As a child of God the devil has no power over you so tell him every chance you get.

Check out, “The Power Of Grace In Our Lives”.

I have been preaching lately on “The Power of Grace in Our Lives,” and the more I get into to it the more I get revelation knowledge of the matchless grace of our God and how He wants us to know about and experience more of it our lives on a daily basis.

Many Christians just think of grace as it relates to their initial salvation in the Lord, but the grace of God encompasses and saturates our whole walk with God. I love this passage as it relates
to our life right now in the Lord Jesus Christ: “Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which now we stand,” (Romans 5:1-2, NIV). We are now standing (positioned in) the Father’s grace! What does that mean? How can we apply that in a practical way in our lives?

First of all, understand the definition of God’s grace: Grace is the free, unmerited favor of God given to sinners. In addition, it is the “enabling ability” of God for your life to deal with and face anything that comes your way. Like the Apostle Paul who had the thorn in the flesh because of the abundance of revelation that was given to him, when he sought the Lord for it to depart Father told him, “Paul, my grace is sufficient for you, (II Corinthians 12). The Lord was not saying to him to simply bear with it but He was telling him to overcome through it by His grace! The point is, Brothers and Sisters, we are standing in not only the free unmerited favor of God for our lives but we are also standing the enabling ability (power) of God to overcome anything that comes our way! It is through the gift of His grace and the gift of His righteousness that we “reign in this life!” (Romans 5:17). We must use it, avail ourselves of it, go to the throne to get more of it when we need more of it (Hebrew 4:14-16). No matter what your going through, no matter what you are commissioned to do for the Lord, no matter what the challenges may be, no matter what lie the enemy would come at you with, Father’s grace is sufficient (the idea of raising a barrier to ward off, be enough). Selah.

Please get a hold of this in your life. I feel many have grown weary in well doing, weary in life itself and have been feeling discouraged, and some of you have even thought of giving in, quitting, and giving up. But let me speak to those thoughts. Let me remind you that the Lord has not forgot you and He has heard your heart’s cry. Even when you have not been able to pray He is listening to your heart and pondering your situation, He knows, He cares, and He loves you with everything within Him. He is ready to act. He is your deliverer and He has made every provision for you and He wants you to call out for grace. Remember what the Word says, ”He opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble (I Peter 5:5).

Secondly, to apply this truth of ”standing in His grace” in a practical way for your life, get a picture of the prodigal son and his elder brother. What happened when the prodigal returned, how did the father treat him? Did he condemn him? Stiff arm him? Ridicule him? No! He ran towards him and fully accepted him back into the family. That is what Father has done for you and for me! We are accepted (highly esteemed) in the beloved, (Ephesians 1:3-9). Grace has done this for us. Standing in grace means that you are standing in this free unmerited favor and in an enabled and powerful place in the family of God. And, don’t be like the elder brother in that story either who though he did go out and waste his inheritance still didn’t live like a son because he did not avail himself of what the father had given him. Selah.

It is time, it is our time! Time to rise up and let the devil, the world, and the sin that would so easily beset us, know that we are children of the King, and that we know we are loved so much by the Father that He loves us just like He does Jesus (Jn 17:23). It is time, Brothers and Sisters, that God wants to show you His favor like never before, and the book of Hebrews says that during the time of shaking (which is now, everything that can be shaken is being shaken, Hebrews 12:18-29) that we are to get grace whereby we can serve God with reverence and godly fear! God wants to give us His grace to not only be forgiven of our sins and overcome in life but also He wants to give us grace so we can serve Him! He wants our hearts to be established in grace (Hebrews 13:9-10) and strong in grace (II Tim 2:1-2).

When John Newton penned the words to the song “Amazing Grace” sometime in the 1740′s (it was later published for the first time in 1779) it was written in response to having gone through an horrible storm at sea in which his life was threatened and he called out to God for deliverance. It is remarkable for all of us to look back and see that “through many dangers, toils, and snares, we have already come,” and that His grace will indeed “lead us home.”

It is our time: “You will arise and have compassion on Zion, for it is time to show favor to her; the appointed time has come,” (Psalm 102:13).

“The law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ,” (John 1: 17, NIV)

“…how much more will those who receive God’s abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ,” (Romans 5:17, NIV).

In the last few weeks when I have preached on Sunday morning I have had the overall theme of “power” or really “empowerment” in mind. The Father has brought all of us as Christians by His wonderful grace into this new life in Christ and He has also given us the “power” in Him to live and effectively minister this new life to others He is calling to salvation by His grace.

God has “empowered” every Christian through three divinely appointed impartations: 1) the power of son ship; 2) the power of authority over the devil; 3) the experience of power through the baptism of the Holy Spirit which enables us to be and do in Jesus what we could never dream or hope to do in ourselves, namely experience the fullness of God, (Eph 3:19): fullness of character and the fruit of the Spirit, fullness of gifts and anointing, doing the works of Christ. Talk about empowering exciting, invigorating, and giving us an impartation of anointed confidence and godly boldness, wow, I wish I had time to break all of this down into detail so we could reflect and meditate on it. Maybe I will come back to some of this sometime but let me deal more on the power of grace…

Without question the greatest manifestation of the power of our Father to us and even to those in this world is the manifestation His wonderful Grace. I preached a couple of weeks ago about the “Power of His Grace in Our Lives,” I said it then and I will say it again that I have not preached a more important message and definitely not on a more important subject then on this subject of grace. Grace is the free unmerited favor of God given to sinners. Key words “free” and “unmerited” and “favor.” Grace for the Christian is also the enabling ability of God that helps us to live, overcome, and breakthrough into victory causing us to reign in life no matter what it is we are going through or with which we are having to deal. When you think of grace think of the free unmerited favor of God towards you, and the enabling ability of God to overcome and deal with anything in any area you may have to deal with in your life. Selah.

Isn’t that wonderful that God has given us such riches of His grace through Jesus? His grace gives us complete forgiveness of sins, complete redemption from the curse of the law, complete favor that carries with it every need for our lives taken care of and every gift of God made available to us. It has brought us complete identity as sons and daughters of God, and one of the greatest of all benefits of grace is having complete access to the Father in and through prayer! Where the high priest could only enter into the Holy of Holies once a year, Christ has made it available to each of us as saints so that we can come boldly to the throne of God and have audience with Father anytime we want too. Hallelujah! Furthermore, God says that in the ages to come He will continue to show us His kindness in the manifestation of the riches of His Grace, (Ephesians 2:7).

However, the Bible warns us of misuses and abuses of grace that can happen. We do well to take heed and be aware of these. The Apostle Paul speaks of how the Corinthians were receiving the grace of God in vain (to know avail). You can find references to this misuse in II Corinthians 6:1-18. Paul was yearning for these Corinthians to recognize what lengths God had gone too in order for them to live whole lives and to walk with Him. Paul wanted the change the true grace of God brings to ones life to be an actual reality in their lives but they were still walking both sides of the fence. That is why he finally called out to them to “come out from among them and be separate” from the world and the lifestyle of unbelievers, (II Cor 6:14). How many professing Christians today are there receiving the grace of God in vain as they try to walk both sides of the fence? God wants to walk in us and be our Father, and He wants us to perfect holiness not compromise with the world! Selah.

The Bible also speaks of how that people in the church “turn” the grace of God or “change” it into something God never intended for it to be turned into. Isn’t this ironic? When the grace of God is given to change them some turn it around and change the grace of God. Religious people always do this when they don’t like or want to conform to the Word of God or God’s ways, they just change it (whatever it is) to conform to their ideas.

In the book of Jude 1-3, the Word of God speaks of how that in the last days many will “turn” the grace of God into a license to sin and they will practice immorality all the while denying the Lord that bought them. How do they deny Him? Buy not letting Him really change their lives though His power. In the context of this passage in Jude he speaks mainly of sexual immorality and perversion. He also speaks of their lust and greed for money and wealth, and their total spirit of rebellion towards any godly authority that would try to come into their lives. This misuse and abuse of grace is manifested in many pulpits today as we hear almost nothing about God’s wrath and judgment against ungodly sinners who refuse to repent. One of the greatest hidden sins today in the lives of men and women is pornography through the internet and cable TV, as well as an utter detests for any preacher who would dare speak the absolutes of God’s Word. Selah.

Probably the greatest way most in our world today and even in the church misuse and abuse the grace of God is by outright resistance to it. It is the most significant way because if persisted in there is great danger in coming to a place of no return because the heart becomes so hardened and the conscience so seared.

In the days of Noah the Bible says God’s Spirit would strive with those wicked men but they resisted. Only Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord. Noah found this grace to the saving of His household, (Genesis 6:1-8). People today continually resist God’s grace. They do not want anything to do with those they call church goers and Bible thumpers. If they do go to church they want to go to church and be entertained but they tell the preacher to make sure the service doesn’t last too long they got other things to do. They do not have time to receive the life changing power of grace in their lives and listen to the Holy Spirit. The will serve God only on their terms and only if He performs things for them. They love themselves and pleasure over everything else. They respect almost no one except those who have money, certainly no one who is humbly serving the Lord. They want the pornography, illicit relationships, and immorality and they do not want anyone telling them it is sin. Not only are their actions immoral and wicked but their thoughts are only evil continually. Inside their heart is continual uncleanness with fornication, adultery, covetousness, extortion, evil thoughts. It doesn’t always manifest in outward actions.

Brothers and Sisters we are living in dangerous times.  It is time, even high time to repent of anything that would hinder the work of God’s grace in our lives. If we have in anyway received His grace in vain or maybe even have turned the grace of God or resisted it in our lives we need to repent quickly and completely. God is merciful and gracious. He loves us and wants us closer to Him then we could ever want it to be ourselves. It is His grace that teaches us to deny ungodly and world passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in this present world while we wait for the coming of the Lord, (Titus 2:11-14). Selah.

Never forget how much Jesus loves you. So much that He gave His life for you, He and the Father long daily to commune with you as He makes His abode in you (Jan 14:23). Let me know if I can help you in any way. Pray for one another always.

Love, In Christ, and Yours for seeing lives changed by Jesus,

I am excited about what God is doing in the earth because with each day we get closer to the coming of the Lord and the consummation of all things. Get ready Church, our redemption (of our bodies) draws near. Do not be alarmed or discouraged by the recent headline prediction about Judgment Day, this is to be expected and it is itself another “sign of the times.” Jesus said that there would even be false messiah’s and false prophets who would come and say these exact kind of things, like “lo here, or lo there,” (Matthew 24:4;8;11;24).  But Jesus also
said, do not listen to them or follow them because the Son of Man will so come (to catch away the saints) as a “thief in the night” and no man knows the day or hour. Jesus said these are but the beginning of sorrows. That is why we must ”live” our lives for Him and in faith and obedience as though He could come at any moment but plan our lives like it might be fifty or one hundred years.

On the other hand, we must live with an urgency concerning spiritual matters, and keep in mind all of this is happening synonymous with the concrete Biblical evidence of other “signs of the times.” While the Bible says that no man will know the exact day and hour for the Lord’s coming for the saints in the rapture it does make it quite clear that we can know “the season” of His coming for the Church. Just like we know the signs of when a storm is coming the next day (“red sky at night sailors delight, red sky in morning sailors take warning,” Matthew 16:1-3) so we can and must know and discern the times we are living in to help us live ready. Remember their were ten virgins in the parable in Matthew 25:1-13 but only five we “ready” when the master called.

What are some of these Biblical ”signs of the times”? Let me give you several:

Israel, issues regarding Jerusalem, world-wide economic perplexity, world-wide atmospheric changes like unusual weather patterns, increase in earthquakes, tsunami’s (waves roaring, Luke 21:25), false Christ’s, false messiah’s, false prophets, lethargy in the church, form of religion but no real power (II Tim 3:1-5), the turning of the true grace of God into a license to sin (Jude 1-3); gross deception, the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon all kinds of people across the world, the gospel being preached in every nation, increased persecution against true Christians, mockery concerning the things of the Lord especially with regard to the coming of the Lord (II Peter 3).

What will will keep us who have given our hearts and lives to Jesus in these times? Do we or should we be fearful, or fretful or worried? Can God give us peace and confidence in the midst of it all? Can we have boldness and strength through Christ in times like this? Can we guard against being deceived or led astray? Can our families be saved, loved ones, and church family be saved? What should be our response and proactive movement and plans in these dangerous times?

The overall answer to these questions and so much more is given by the Apostle Paul when he was leaving the elders at Ephesus and with tears he was warning them. He said, “Now I commit you to God and to the Word of His grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified,” (Acts 20:32, NIV). Notice, he did not commend them to a church board, or an ecclesiastical hierarchy, but rather he committed them to God’s Holy Word (Logos, the full embodiment of truth, Jesus, and what He spoke is the Logos of God). We are to draw near to Jesus ( He is the author and finisher of our faith, the Captain of our salvation) as never before and stay under His protective wings and covering through His precious blood, and draw near to the whole counsel of the Bible and not only know it but believe it! We must read, study, know, make sure that we are sitting under the preaching and teaching of it and hide the Word of God in our hearts. We must be washed with the anointed Word, (Ephesians 5:25.) and give ourselves to it.

If we will do this we will have abundant peace, confidence, power and strength, salvation for our loved ones and church family (because God’s Word give us faith), protection, boldness, and fullness of joy. We do not have to be worried, stressed out, fearful. Let the high praises of God be in your mouth as you stay close to your Lord and what He says in His Holy Word.

Blessings to you and yours,

Pastor Kent Grimes
